Calvin James Baker

Calvin James Baker entered into life on Thursday, November 17, 1960, in Houston, Texas and left this world with his loving family by his side on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Abilene, Texas. Calvin was the fifth child of six born to Glen Ray Baker Sr. and Nancy Evelyn (Smith) Baker. He graduated from North Shore High School in 1979 and then went on to become a Jet engine mechanic in the United States Air Force. He had three children of his own, Mathias, Josiah, and Maggie Baker. He loved them immensely and was extremely proud of them. He also had three stepdaughters who on some days drove him crazy, but he loved them with all his being and was always there for them. He was in the oil and gas industry for well over 40 years and this job let him travel to many places around the world. He met the love of his life and best friend Juanita Arredondo in 2001 and they were married a year later in August of 2002. Calvin loved going on adventures with his beloved wife and together they traveled to Hawaii, Japan, Guam, Costa Rica, and Germany. He had a love for tractors and sailing on the beautiful coastal waters. His lifelong dream was to own a farm, which he accomplished in his later days, which he dubbed “The Baker’s Little Acre”. The farm was where he was truly happy and was looking forward to retirement. He loved Monty Python movies and was always quoting lines from the movies. As he worked on his tractor he would blast Jimmy Buffett, AC/DC, Randy Travis, or old country. His favorite thing to do to unwind was drinking coffee on the back porch, enjoying the sunrise. He is preceded in death by his father Glen Ray Baker Sr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 21 years Juanita (Arredondo) Baker. His sons; Kalvin Mathias Covenant (Eva) Baker, Vincent Josiah Maccabee Baker, and his daughter Rebekah Magdalene Shilo Baker. His stepdaughters; Cristela (Ryan) Edwards, Belinda Petersen and Nicole (Patrick) Sanchez. His grandchildren who miss him greatly; Kaitlyn Como, Taylor (Trey) Kashinski, Drake Como, Jessica Hernandez, Lillian May, Nikola May, Victoria Jane May, Charlotte Edwards, Ronon Sanchez, Raya Sanchez, Reese Sanchez and one great grandchild Jolie Kashinski. His mother Nancy Evelyn (Smith) Baker. His five siblings; Evelyn Baker, Elizabeth Baker, Shirley Baker, Laura (Jeff) Chamberlain, and Glen (Natalie) Baker. Numerous nieces and nephews.
