Beverly Ruth Cummings

Beverly Ruth (Lavine) Cummings went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 6, 2024, in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Elsie and Melvin Lavine, and her loving husband of 26 years, Carleton Cummings Jr. Beverly leaves behind a loving sister, Sharon (William) Foote; nephews, Mark (Margo) Popkowski, Steven (Joanie) Popkowski, and Jody (Andrea) Popkowski; nieces, Tami (Mitch) Evans and Lori (John) Grimes; cousins, Francine Schept, Howard (Kathleen) Schept, Richard Sobol, Judy Sobol, Pam (Ralph) Placito, David Lavine, Susan (Richard) Lavine-Perry, and Beth (Paul) Lostumbo; and many other great-nieces, nephews and second cousins. Beverly was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. After completing high school, she attended Central City Business Institute and received a diploma in 1972 and then went on to receive a Practical Nursing diploma and LPN license in 1973. Beverly’s compassionate soul led her to focus on a career within the private duty nursing sector, specific to elderly patients, in which she worked for over 26 years. When Beverly met her husband, Carl, they vacationed throughout the country and the world. They decided to settle down where it was warm, in Orlando, Florida. Beverly retired from nursing and together they started a business called Casual Decor that spanned 20 years. They later retired and moved to Texas to be close to family. Beverly never stopped wanting to learn, and she took many college continuing education courses including guitar. If there was one thing anyone could say about Beverly it was that she was passionate about her faith in God. She was born Jewish in race and raised in the Jewish faith but converted to a Messianic Christian. She wanted everyone to know God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to be our savior, and by a simple act of faith alone in Christ, you are saved and have the gift of eternal life forever in heaven. We will miss her beautiful smile and passion for people and her unwavering belief in Yeshua.
