Charles Coffen of Katy, Texas passed away on January 8, 2015. Charles will be missed forever and we will always love him. He was a generous, kind hearted man who loved cooking, music, and the outdoors especially the ocean. He grew up on the water fishing, boating and surfing. He took any opportunity to be on the water spending holidays and vacations in his favorite seaside town of Rockport, Texas. He was a person who made friends everywhere he went. He would go out of his way to know all the people in the community that he loved, nobody was a stranger. He was a gifted carpenter and worked for over 20 years remodeling homes throughout the Houston area. He was a master of his craft and was able to build and create beautiful works of art. He was always happy to use his craftsman skills to help friends and family with projects. Home was important to him and he was a long time contributor to Habitat for Humanity. He was preceded in death by his mother Lillie Coffen and his father Robert Coffen, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Debbie Coffen; his brothers Robert Coffen Jr., Larry Coffen and his wife Ann, Randy Coffen and his wife Niki, Gary Coffen, Michael Coffen and his sister Diane Kleiner and her husband Bernie. Father In-law Kenneth Tate and Mother In-law Betty Tate, Brother In-law Larry Tate and his wife Desiree and Sister In-law Sherry Matthews and her husband David. Nephews Matthew Coffen and his wife Erica and their children Matthew Jr. and Chloe, Randy Coffen Jr. Nieces Sarah Kleiner and her children Benjamin and Alexandra, Emily Jankowski and her husband Phillip, Laura Kleiner, Martha Hathcotte and her husband Matt and their children Matthew, Mehkinzie, and Mehkayla, Jennifer Lober and her husband Matt and their daughter Lexi. A private memorial service will be held in Rockport, Texas with close friends and family.
