Ernest Brown Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ernest Sandor Brown passed away at his home in Pledger, Texas on July 28, 2014, at the age of 67. Sandor was born in Wharton, Texas, on October 17, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Bertha (Avie) Brown. He is survived by his wife, Lori Gutta Brown; his son, Andrew Brown; his daughter, Erin and husband Michael Kondelis; his daughter, Bethany and husband David Dean; his grandchildren, Maggie Dean, William Kondelis, and baby boy Dean on the way; his sister, Bertha and husband Fred Rudin; father-in-law John Gutta, sister-in-law Vicki Gutta Sansum and several nieces and nephews. Sandor grew up in Pledger and lived most of his life in the greater Houston area. He worked in the insurance and legal industries, but was most passionate about his numerous hobbies. Sandor was an avid sportsman and greatly enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and working in the yard of the house he built on family land in Pledger. He loved his cats and dreamed of a menagerie of horses, cows, donkeys and more. Earlier in life, he served as the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 465, where he was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was also the long-time head coach of a youth soccer team, The Rebels, with many of his players going on to play soccer at higher levels. Music played a special role in Sandor's life. In his youth, he was the lead singer of a popular cover-band, The Monarch's. Later in life, he took great pleasure in listening to classic rock and country music and singing Elvis songs with his family. He liked to travel, particularly to cities like Fredericksburg, New Orleans and Las Vegas and even enjoyed a "bucket list" trip to the Kentucky Derby this past May. Sandor was passionate about reading and history, especially anything Civil War, or otherwise military-related. He fulfilled a life-long dream of visiting the battlefields of Gettysburg and many other historically significant sites. He enjoyed collecting coins, guns, knives, and American Indian artifacts. Anyone who knew him well would say his greatest love in life was his family. Sandor loved his children and was delighted to have recently become a grandfather. He completely adored his wife, Lori, and cherished their 22 years of marriage together. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 12:30pm - 3:30pm at Sweetwater Country Club, 4400 Palm Royale Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479. We will be sharing memories from 1:30pm - 2:30pm.
