Johnny Logan Vines

Johnny Logan Vines, 57, passed away on March 24, 2016 at his home with his family by his side in Cypress, Texas. He was born March 11, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana to John Lee Vines and Barbara Jean Wheatley Vines Weiss. Johnny is survived by his spouse Sandra Vines and son Loudan Vines of Cypress, Texas; his daughter Chrissi Mueller and husband Dave, of Denver, Colorado; his parents, John Vines and Barabara Vines Weiss of Dale, Texas; his brothers David Vines of Dale, Texas and Michael Weiss of Little Rock, Arkansas; his sisters, Dawn Moya and husband Dave of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Susan Causey of Mandeville, Louisiana; his grandchildren Mercedes and Annabel Jane Mueller; and his nieces and nephews; Jason, Amber, Courtney, Scott, Heather, Damian, Nick, Danielle and other relatives. Johnny grew up in Harahan, Louisiana. Growing up in the Big Easy laid the foundation for Johnny's passion for music where he began singing in his first band at the age of 14. This led to a life-long love of music, singing in bands such as Tabu, Stratus, Savage White and Lillian Axe. After five years of touring and opening up for several national acts, Johnny left New Orleans for Denver, Colorado to front the band, Killian Dare. Two years later, he headed back south to Houston, Texas where he spent a short time with Apache Black and then his namesake band, Logan. After 23 years, Johnny was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of fame along with his original Lillian Axe band mates. In 2011, the original Lillian Axe got together again and formed, Circle of Light, producing a CD of never recorded songs from the early years and played the Louisiana and Mississippi market. He worked for Geico as an Auto Damage Adjuster for 16 years. Although the last year of Johnny's life was a rough road travelled, he was passionate about life. He stood firm in his walk with God and his faith for himself, his family and friends. He loved people and entertaining them. His daily mission was to lift people's spirits, make them feel special and put a smile on their face. Heaven has a new choir director with very large wings. A celebration of life and burial service will be held in Johnny's memory.
