June Elizabeth Blunk

June Elizabeth Blunk, 69, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025. Born on April 5, 1956, in Bettendorf, Iowa, she was a beloved daughter to Bud and Kay Thomas and a cherished member of her family. June was a remarkable woman who embraced life with an adventurous spirit and unwavering compassion. She had a deep love for travel, exploring more than 45 countries, immersing herself in diverse cultures, and creating lasting memories with friends and family along the way. Her favorite quote, “Never Stop Exploring,” captured her zest for life and her desire to connect with others. Whether hosting friends, cheering on her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, or participating in her local wine and book clubs, June found joy in building community and nurturing meaningful relationships. Her academic journey began at Bettendorf High School, where she excelled in gymnastics, synchronized swimming, and cheerleading—earning state champion titles in both gymnastics and synchronized swimming—and continued at the University of Iowa, where she earned a BBA in Accounting and Finance while being an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. June further pursued her education at Southern Methodist University, earning her MBA in Managerial Accounting. Her career was nothing short of impressive, beginning at Shell and including significant contributions to brands like Blockbuster and Boston Chicken. After an initial retirement full of world travels, she returned to work at Chartwell Partners, officially retiring in February 2024 to prepare for the arrival of her first grandchild, a role she eagerly anticipated. June cherished holiday gatherings, each filled with laughter, warmth, and the company of those she loved; of all the celebrations, Christmas held a special place in her heart, a time she treasured most deeply with family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued, always putting their needs before her own. She is preceded in death by her father, R. Lee "Bud" Thomas, and is survived and lovingly remembered by her mother Kay Thomas of Bettendorf, IA; her dear sisters, Cathy Tucker and Keith Tucker of Georgetown, TX, Sue Begyn and Larry Begyn of Bettendorf, IA; son Jason Blunk of Dallas, TX, daughter Kristina Laden and Adam Laden of Austin, TX; granddaughter Harper Laden. A Celebration of Life for June Elizabeth Blunk is on Friday, May 30, 2025, 11 AM at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church 9800 Preston Rd. Dallas, TX 75230.
