MARIA ELENA ORTIZ BAUTISTA, age 53, of Katy, TX went to be with our God in His kingdom in heaven on November 27, 2014. Maria was born on October 6, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the eldest of five children. The majority of her schooling was Catholic. She married Mario Bautista in Houston, TX in 1977. In her professional life she mostly served as an office manager, Human Resources Manager, and property manager. However her most meaningful work was as a Crisis Advocate partner at Katy Christian Ministries. She recently opened her own commercial janitorial business and began attending college to pursue a bachelor's degree in History. She lived her life to the fullest. Her smile was infectious. She never met a stranger. She was adventurous and loved to go country western dancing. She was a passionate fan of Rod Stewart, George Strait, and the Houston, Livestock Show and Rodeo. Among her other hobbies were traveling, scrapbooking, and canning. She also made arguably the BEST tamales and "green sauce" (which many people are missing this holiday season). Maria had a heart for serving others: family, friend, or stranger. She was a truly selfless person who always looked for ways to bless others. Maria was saved and a believer throughout her life. She gladly shared her faith and trust in The Lord with all that she knew. She also served on the women's rosary club at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, TX. Additionally she attended Parkway Fellowship Church in Richmond, TX. Maria is survived by her parents- Armando Sr. and Rose Ortiz, her step mother-Pauline Ortiz, her daughters-Nikki and Gillian, her ex-husband, Mario, her siblings- Armando Jr., Maria Christina, Thomas, and Daniel, and five grandchildren- Arianah, Liliana, Bryce, Cai, and Callie. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held for Maria at Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land on January 9, 2015 at 11 AM.
