Marie Antoinette Klotz

Marie Klotz of Houston, Texas, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of 79, while being held in the loving arms of her devoted husband, Marion. Marie married the love of her life, Marion Klotz, on June 7, 1964. Together, they made their home in Spring Branch, where they shared more than 60 years of life, family, friendships, and cherished memories. Marie, aka “little bitty”, Momma, and Granny, was preceded in death by her parents and other beloved family members who welcomed her into eternal life. She is the devoted mother of four children: Johanna Hefley (Marshall), Raymond Klotz (Theresa), Daniel Klotz (Gina), and Joseph Klotz (Rae). She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren: Marshall Jr. (Tori), Grady (Megan), and Wyatt Hefley; Madison and Mason Klotz; Ross and Miranda Klotz; Marion Klotz, and Erin and Elena Hernandez and 3 great grandchildren: Charlotte Jo, Marshall Burnett III, and Chesney James Hefley. Also, extended family member, Rogelio Valadez, whom Marie was like a second mom to. Her family was the center of her world, and she loved each of them with all her heart. For 31 years, Marie faithfully served the children of Woodview Elementary School as a crossing guard. She was beloved by generations of students whose safety she protected each day. Long after they graduated, many would stop by just to visit her and thank her for the kindness and care she had shown them. She took her responsibility seriously—and family members lovingly joke that she may or may not have bent her stop sign on a few cars that dared to speed through the school zone. Marie’s love for her family was evident in everything she did. She faithfully kept score for all of her boys’ baseball teams, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on and support them. Later, she and Marion rarely missed one of their grandchildren’s football, baseball, or volleyball games. Whether she was keeping score, cheering from the stands, or simply showing up with unwavering love and encouragement, her family always knew she was their biggest fan. She was a wonderful homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home, creating a place where family and friends always felt welcome. She was also incredibly hardworking and resourceful. Alongside Marion, she helped build an addition onto their family home and later helped build their house at the family farm. She was never afraid of hard work and was always willing to do whatever needed to be done for those she loved. Marie found joy in creating beauty. She was an accomplished quilter and knitter, making countless beautiful quilts and Afghans that will continue to warm the hearts and homes of those she loved. She also had a passion for gardening and, at one time, lovingly tended 36 varieties of roses—her favorite flower—in her backyard, creating a place of peace and beauty. She and Marion shared a deep love of music, a gift they passed on to their children. One of Marie’s greatest joys was listening to Danny and Joseph perform live at local venues, proudly supporting them and celebrating their talents every chance she could. Marie also had a special place in her heart for dogs. She had several beloved companions throughout her life and loved each one dearly. With her signature smile, she would often say that dogs were the best because they were “God spelled backwards.” It brings comfort to those who loved her to imagine her now in Heaven, completely healed, joyfully reunited with all of the faithful dogs who were part of her life’s journey. Though tiny in stature, Marie was fierce in spirit. She had a smile that could light up a room and a heart that welcomed everyone she met. She was a blessing not only to her family but to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her strength, compassion, unwavering work ethic, and boundless love touched countless lives. In her later years, Marie courageously endured the cruel disease we know as Alzheimer’s. Though it slowly stole many precious memories, it could never diminish the love she gave or the legacy she leaves behind. Above all else, Marie was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Her faith guided her life, shaped her love for others, and gave her hope through every season. While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in knowing she is now completely healed, her mind restored, and celebrating in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Marie loved her family fiercely, and that love will live on in each of us for all eternity. Her legacy of faith, service, strength, kindness, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. A Rosary will be prayed on Saturday, August 1, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, Texas 77007. A reception will immediately follow from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Marie’s beautiful life.
