Patricia Baker Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Patricia Pauline ("Pat") Baker, age 81, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully after a brief and sudden illness on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Thomas A. Baker, Sr. She is survived by her son Thomas A. Baker, Jr., and his wife Debra of Plano and her daughter Diana Lynn Fritts and her husband Larry of Charlotte, North Carolina. Pat is also survived by four granddaughters and one grandson: Spring Donahue of Charlotte; Heather Moore and Kyle Moore of Charlotte; and Abby Baker and Taylor Baker of Plano. Pat is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Pat was a kind, funny, and loving mother and grandmother--always loving a joke or funny story, even if she got the punchline wrong (and she often did and laughed about it). She also had a soft spot for stuffed monkeys and anything to do with cats. "Mom" and "Grandma" will be sorely missed by her family but will remain alive in their hearts and memories. Pat was a vibrant, active resident at Sunrise Senior Living in Plano for the past four years, enjoying field trips to Wal-Mart or the mall. Pat especially loved playing bingo at Sunrise, listening to the musical entertainment and getting her nails done with her many friends. She looked forward to getting dressed up to join her tablemates for dinner each evening and would frequently remark to the chef that the food was "dee-lishous!" She will be missed by the staff and her many friends at Sunrise. As many people who knew her often remark, "Pat never met a stranger." Pat came to Sunrise in January 2010 after the passing of her beloved husband Tom. They had been lifelong residents of Florida, more recently Vero Beach, where they had moved when Tom retired. Huge Los Angeles Dodgers fans, they attended numerous spring training games when the Dodgers were in Vero Beach and enjoyed their time as an active retired couple. Together they also wholeheartedly embraced traveling around the world on cruise ships. By the time Tom had gotten too ill to travel any longer, they had earned Grand Mariner status with Holland America Cruise Lines and had taken 39 cruises. Their 40th cruise is in Heaven.
