Dr. Patrick Kolawole Fadahunsi

Dr. Patrick Kolawole Fadahunsi, 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 15, 2024. He was born on November 1, 1948 in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. He was the third of four children born to Mr Oni Elijah Fadahunsi and Mrs Oni Orunla Fadahunsi. He came from very humble beginnings but enjoyed life to the fullest. He credits his brother for insisting that he go to school from day one. He attended St Patrick’s Catholic Elementary School at the top of his class. Upon baptism, he was given his Christian name of Patrick, named after the school as a high honor. He later went on to attend Ado Grammar School and finally Messiah Modern School where he received his A-level certificate. After high school he moved to Lagos. While there he worked for the National Bank of Nigeria where with his hard work and superior character he found favor in the eyes of several influential people. One such person directed his path to securing a full scholarship from British Petroleum Oil Company. This allowed him to come to the United States to attend Bishop College, now Paul Quinn College, in Dallas, Texas. He started there in 1969. Years prior to leaving Nigeria he met the love of his life, Roseline Abosede Ajose. He asked her to be his “future partner”. They married in 1970 and were happily married for 54 years. With her by his side, he achieved all he ever dreamed of, which included graduating from Meharry Medical College and later becoming a revered surgeon. Dr. Fadahunsi, in addition to being a loving husband, was the devoted father of five beautiful children who brought him enormous pride, joy, fulfillment, and later seven grandchildren who he cherished dearly. His interests included reading the Bible, soccer, the Dallas Cowboys (for the most part), debating Nigerian and US politics, as well as listening to music. He also loved to sing and every year made a point to serenade his children with their own personalized happy birthday rendition. While at Meharry he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Kappa Chapter. Dr Patrick Fadahunsi is survived by his wife, Roseline; his sons and daughters Dr. Folshade Lester, Mrs. Oluremi Ojo, Dr. Titilola Glass, Dr. Ayodele Fadahunsi, and Dr. Olufemi Fadahunsi; Their spouses Dr. Ronald Lester, Mr.Temitope Ojo, Dr. Donald Glass II, Mrs. Kiesha Fadahusi, and Dr. Angela Fadahunsi; his grandchildren Simone, Emmanuel, and Jonathan Lester, Oluwakemi Ojo, Donald III and Joanna Glass, and Olivia Fadahunsi. Patrick was preceded in death by brothers Adeleye and Isola-Funmilayo along with sister Modupe. Homegoing service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville, Texas on July 12, 2024.
