Ray Gutierrez September 10, 1928 – April 27, 2025 With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Ray Gutierrez on April 27, 2025 — Divine Mercy Sunday. Ray left this world surrounded by his family and strong in faith, a fitting tribute to a life so beautifully lived. Born to Tomás M. Gutierrez and Marcella V. Gutierrez on September 10, 1928, Ray’s life was anchored in faith, family, and hard work — values he cherished and lived by every day. Ray proudly served his country during the Korean War, returning home with the same loyalty, resilience, and devotion that would shape every chapter of his life. He married the love of his life, Theresa Alicia Molina Gutierrez (“Alice”), and together they shared nearly 75 wonderful years of marriage, raising a family rooted in love and faith. Ray and Alice built their life together not only at home but also in business, owning and operating El Sol Tortillas — a true family effort marked by hard work, dedication, and a deep connection to their community. Their commitment to their Catholic faith led them to join with others in becoming founding members of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and School, leaving a legacy that continues to touch generations. Above all, Ray was a family man. He was a proud and loving father to Tommy, Roz, Steve, and Diana, and his son-in-law, David. His greatest joy came from his growing family, and he delighted in being a grandfather to Katherine (Matthew), Jennifer (Shayla), Nicole (Chris), Michael (Angel), Tommy (Amanda), David Junior, and Natalie; and a great-grandfather to Avery, Abigail, Mabel Rae, Nev, and Scout. He held a special place in his heart for extended family, including Bill, father of granddaughters Kathy and Jennifer; Julie and Rick, mother and stepfather of grandson Michael; and Kathy, mother of grandson Tommy. He also dearly loved Prici (Corky), Lucy, Vanessa, and their families, who were like daughters to Ray and Alice. Ray’s love knew no bounds — once you were family to him, you were family for life. Ray’s home was always full of laughter, love, and music — especially the big band sounds he adored and passed down to his children and grandchildren. His welcoming spirit, his kindness, and his steadfast faith touched everyone who knew him. A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and the SMU Mustangs, Ray found joy in rooting for his favorite teams, sharing that passion wholeheartedly with those around him. Ray’s wisdom was simple but profound: “Trust in the good Lord, you will be fine.” His strong faith was a source of comfort and guidance to all who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Rueben, Estella, and Alice; and his beloved son, Tomás Mario Gutierrez. He leaves behind his wife, Theresa; his children, Rosalind Anne Gutierrez, Steven Michael Gutierrez, and Diana Louisa Gutierrez (David) Luther; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. The rosary for the repose of the soul of Ray Gutierrez will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church 2800 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 12:30 PM, also at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. Interment at 2:00 pm at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln. Dallas, Texas, 75220. Reception will be held immediately after the interment at Knights of Columbus Hall (Springlake Event Center) 2280 Springlake Rd. Dallas, TX 75234. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ray’s name to Mary Immaculate Catholic School or Church, 2800 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the Divine Mercy of God, and reunited with the loved ones who went before him.
