Richard G. Crowder

Richard G. Crowder of Rosharon, TX departed this life surrounded by the love of his wife and family on April 15, 2015, having reached the age of seventy-four years. Richard was born in St Louis, MO on February 27, 1941, son of Richard Hayes Crowder and Demaris Rudge Crowder. Richard is survived by his wife, Judith Wright Crowder of St Louis, MO; by two daughters: Laura Maragni of St Louis, MO and Tabitha Rose Enochs, of Pearland TX; by two sons: Richard Phillip Crowder and wife, Blanca, recently returned from overseas tour; and Stephen Daniel Crowder and wife, Stephanie, of Sweeny, TX; by 10 grandchildren: Richard and Nathan Crowder recently returned from overseas, Katelynn and Kody Enochs and Hailey Godard of Pearland, TX, Christopher and Ryan Smith and Kaydence Crowder of Sweeny, TX, Joshua Crowder and Jacob Noel of St Louis, MO; by three brothers: Terry and wife Stephenia of St Louis MO, Michael and wife Rhonda of Rhineland, MO, Douglas and wife Pat of O'Fallon, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many many friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Demaris Crowder, brother Gary Crowder and mother-in-law Rose Wright. Richard was a Christian and a member of Manvel Baptist Church. Richard was proud to have served in the United States Army. He entered March 14, 1961 and received his Honorable Discharge on March 7, 1964; then served in the Army Reserve till 1967. Richard began his working career as an auto mechanic. In late 1980's he began driving an eighteen wheeler. He drove for Steer Tank Line, Transport Service, and Enterprise Transport. He enjoyed traveling the country he loved so much. However, during all these travels he never missed a family birthday or holiday. He retired on February 27, 2003. Richard was an awesome man who never met a stranger and never hesitated to share his faith. He was a loving father, playful grandpa, and an amazing big brother. He glowed with such pride when he spoke of his children and laughed when he talked about his four brothers. He marveled at his grandbabies and loved to rock them to sleep in his arms. He remained a strong loving partner to his wife of forty years. He would say often that he was such a blessed man, but in truth we were the blessed. You don't find love like he gave in these times. He will forever be in our hearts and in the faces of his children. They have his eyes, his mouth, his personality, and his loving heart. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Houston National Cemetery at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Wounded Warriors or Fisher House Foundation.
