Robert M. Brinley, 87, resident of Houston, Texas and Andes, New York, died December 18th 2014. Survived by his wife, Diana Burge, six sons (one predeceased), one daughter, 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a sister, a brother in law Terry Burge of Houston. He attended Rutgers University, Purdue University, and was a graduate of American College. His many interests included membership in the Masonic Lodge, Elk's Lodge, Kiwanis International, Toastmaster's International, Grand Juror's Association, Sons of the American Revolution, and Clear Lake United Methodist Church. A pilot since 1943, he served his country in Italy in World War II. After completing military service, his research in adapting seat belts for use in automobiles resulted in numerous published works, and in 1956 he was the recipient of the National Safety Council's prestigious award for Outstanding Contributions to Traffic Safety in the Nation. For more than 30 years he served as a volunteer Deputy Sheriff in several jurisdictions under six sheriffs. Memorial services will be held at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 16335 El Camino Real, Houston, Texas (281) 488-5110 on January 17, 2015 at 3:00pm.
