Shirley Jean Patty

Shirley Jean Patty was born and raised in Belton, Texas by parents Thomas Milton Taggart and Queen Eloise Jennings. In her youth she enjoyed hanging out at the Tigers Den drive in and listening to country music. Later in life, she found great joy in traveling, attending concerts and shows, and taking cruises. She often spoke enthusiastically about how much fun she had in Las Vegas. Among the many places she visited, Belize was one of her most cherished destinations—a place she loved deeply and always hoped to return to. In her down time while not traveling, she enjoyed crocheting, going to estate sales, and eating Tex-Mex food. Shirley lived with remarkable loyalty and humility; She served others with a generous heart, embodying the spirit of kindness and charity. Her radiant joy and sense of humor were gifts that brightened every gathering. She married Cecil Aubrey Patty in 1962 and had three beautiful children; her daughter Skyla Patty was born in 1963, followed by Gary Louis Patty in 1965, and Gene Allan Patty in 1969. She raised her boys as a single mother and was always a second mom to her son's friends. She was a hard-working woman who dedicated her career to a single organization, Dennys. She is survived by her son, Gene Allan Patty; her daughter-in-law, Maureen Patty; their two daughters, Bria Patty and Tristan Patty; and two great-grandsons, Dakota and Dominic. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Ashley Rodgers and Leslie Miguel and her spouse, Allan Miguel; and her great-granddaughters, Natalie Rodgers, Emily Rodgers, Kalie Rodgers, and Riley Rodgers. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Queen Taggart, brothers Buddy and Sonny, as well as sisters Sue and Tommy; daughter Skyla, and son Gary. Her viewing service for immediate family will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m., and a reception at 3:00 p.m. All services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 125 East State St., Garland, TX 75040.
