Thelma Marie Ashley, aged 87, died peacefully on January 12, 2015 surrounded by loved ones at her home in Garland, Texas. Thelma was born on October 2, 1927 in Dallas, Texas to Ora and Ben Eden. She was the second youngest of 12 children in the Eden family. In 1950, Thelma met the love of her life, Bob Ashley. They met at A. Harris and Co. department store in downtown Dallas. She worked in the cosmetic department as well as a part-time model with Bob serving as the floor manager of the shoe department. In 1953, Bob and Thelma married with Bob adopting Thelma's son from a previous marriage, Garry, raising and loving him as his own. In 1959, Thelma and Bob were blessed with the birth of their daughter Tonya Rene'. In addition to being a loving mother of two and wife, Thelma also contributed to the family's well-being as a bank teller in Dallas, eventually transitioning to Garland to be closer to home. Thelma relished being with her family and friends. They would get together and cook, cut-up, and have a wonderful time just being in each other's company. Thelma thoroughly enjoyed traveling with Bob. It didn't matter what destination they ended up in, as long as they were together. Thelma was a loyal baptized servant of Jehovah, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for the past 54 years. Her love for Jehovah was the driving force in her life. She was loved by many in Jehovah's organization. Thelma Ashley is survived by her husband Bob Ashley, son Garry Ashley, daughter Tonya Henderson, granddaughter Ashley Barbey along with numerous relatives and close friends. There will be a memorial service for Thelma Marie Ashley held on Saturday January 17th at 5pm. Services will be held at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall on 800 South Bowser road in Richardson, Texas.
