Marilyn J. Minchen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marilyn Joan (Boudreau) Grant-Minchen, 76, of Sugar Land, Texas September 11, 2015 Born in Eveleth, Minnesota on May 24, 1939, Marilyn was the second oldest of five children and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. At the age of 18, she married and moved to the Texas Panhandle, eventually settling in the Houston area with her 7 beautiful children. Marilyn was preceded in death by the love of her life, Bill Minchen. She is survived by all of her 7 children, their spouses, her 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and Handsome Man, her beloved cat. Marilyn was a woman of astounding beauty, spirit, and talent. Marilyn was a Mensa member, avid cross word puzzler, master gardener, and gifted artist. One of her many accomplishments was earning her pilot's license in 1965 while expecting her twin boys. Marilyn worked as a geologist's assistant as a single mother. She began a successful modeling career at the age of 38, learned to play golf after her children were grown and even shot several holes-in-one at golf courses around the country, started her own women's golf wear clothing line, and enjoyed traveling with her husband. She earned her Master Gardener designation while caring for her late husband. She had the kind of smile that could light up a room. Her energy and effervescent spirit were contagious. While Alzheimer's disease robbed her of so many things, it never took her beautiful smile. Her courageous battle will continue with her family as they walk in her memory in the 2015 Fort Bend County Walk to End Alzheimer's.
