Thomas Joseph Dardar Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Thomas Joseph Dardar affectionately known as Tommy, Tommy Joe, and Big Daddy Gumbo was born November 26th, 1950. He was the youngest child born of Arthur Avery Dardar Sr. and Frances Juanita Dardar. He attended school at Memorial Elementary and later in the Heights area. Early on Tommy had a love for music. He got it naturally as he came from a musical family. His dad played the accordion exposing the family to Louisiana Blues and Dixieland Jazz Music. Tommy would eventually gravitate towards the blues and grow into a powerhouse blues man in the Houston area. He could sing with unmatched heart and soul. No one could touch him when it came to playing the blues harp. He played a fusion of his favorite types of music, blues, soul, jazz, and zydeco music. He termed his style as "Gulf Coast Blues" and he lived it. He will surely be missed by family, friends, and fans as God broke the mold when he made Tommy. He left this world on July 18, 2017 surrounded by his family and close friends heading to a bigger, better gig in Heaven. Tommy is survived by his daughter Christina Nicole Dardar, his brother Floyd Dwight Dardar, sister-in-law Stacy Dardar, Sister Nita Carol Eppes, brother-in-law Hollis Eppes Jr., Cousins, Nephew's, Nieces, many wonderful friends and adoring fans. A celebration of Tommy's Life will be held on Sunday, August 13,2017 beginning at 2pm at The Big Easy Club, 5731 Kirby Houston, TX 77005.
