Darby Lou Garza

Darby Lou is survived by her mother Alexandra Rae Morton and her father Rockie Jose Garza; her grandparents John L. & Corrine Zamora-Morton, Robert C. & Judy G. Kurtz, Moses Garza, and Angelita Chapa; aunts Brittany Diana Morton, Alyssa M. Garza, Taylor E. Maldonado, & Marissa S. Kurtz; uncles Humberto Q. Maldonado, Aaron M. Garza, Justin C. Kurtz, Nicholas D.Bogosian, and Taylor L. Kurtz; great grandparents Anita C. Morton, Mr. & Mrs. Pedro Chapa, Jr., and Mr. & Mrs. Manuel Garza; and numerous others that loved her dearly. Darby Lou was granted her angel wings on May 16, 2017. During her 22 months with us, Darby had touched everyone in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life. Darby's smile melts the hearts of those around her and though she was learning words, her voice could always be heard. Her zest for adventure and learning new things were always amazing to watch; from dancing to music, running around in the park and making you go down the slide with her, to swinging her and hearing her laughter. She loved the movie Finding Dory and the show Sesame Street. With Darby's passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated and how Darby everyday would say hello to complete strangers and they would turn around and smile and say hello back. This should remind all of us to be kind to one another and how a simple gesture of saying hello and waving can make someone's day. Her laughter was also infectious and you it would suddenly make you forget any troubles from the day. The way she woke up smiling every morning, to her walking up and just hugging your legs, to her multiple kisses good night every evening; Darby Lou epitomized love more than any person I have ever known. Darby Lou was also extremely smart and learned quickly. This included her learning that when grandmas said no, she could always take her appeal to Pawpaw and he could not say no if she said, "peas" and "tankyou". She was so expressive and it showed through her excitement and joy with learning new songs and words. She truly danced like no one was watching and let the rhythm of the music guide her. Darby Lou was an example of how God calls us to live our lives: to give and expect nothing in return, to love without any fear of being hurt, to say hi to and smile at everyone we meet. If we could follow her shining example; this world would be a far better place. Until the time that we come to join you baby girl, we will do our best to follow your beautiful example. A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 20 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 3816 Bellaire Blvd Houston, TX 77025. There will be a slide show tribute at the church immediately following the service
