Debra Jo Storie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Debra Jo Storie, 62 peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family on March 27, 2015 in Garland, Texas. Debra was born on March 17, 1953 in Sherman, TX to her loving and supportive parents Albert (94 yrs.) and Wilma (93 yrs.) Nabors who currently reside in Denison, TX and are members of Waples Methodist Church in Denison. Debra graduated from Denison High School where she took Cosmetology classes, which led to a lifelong career making others look beautiful. She was a barrel racer as a teen and always loved animals. Debra had a special place in her heart for older people and an amazing ability to comfort those with Alzheimer's, a disease her dear Grandmother and Mother-in-law shared. She was a successful Salon owner for over 30 years in the DFW area. She loved the outdoors and the beauty God created, she said she always felt closer to God when she was in nature. She loved to fish and she loved her garden where she grew her own ingredients to some award winning hot sauce, which she canned herself along with many other vegetables and jams. Debra found the good in people, believed in second chances, and always had a beautiful smile for everyone she met. Her laugh was contagious and you could hear it across the room. She raised thousands of dollars for children's charities by selling teddy bears she would dress up and customize and that work was very important to her. She was always on the front row at her church, Springcreek Church in Garland, TX, where she gave and received many hugs. She was an amazing grandmother but she preferred to be called YaYa. Yaya was dearly loved by her grandchildren and famous for her craft and painting time with them. These memories they will cherish forever. Debra ("Debbie babe" to her Mother), is survived by her loving husband Bobby Storie, her children and their spouses, Kristin & Mike Dolliff, Dustin & Candi Matthews and Kelly Storie, her grandchildren Nathan& Sarah Dolliff, Emmy Kate Storie, Ashleigh & Kelsey Steinwender, Dakota Burnett, her parents Albert & Wilma Nabors, as well as her sister and her spouse Sandy & Harry Barnes. The Celebration of Debra's life will take place on Sunday April 12, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Springcreek Church 2660 Belt Line Road, Garland, TX 75044. The family respectfully requests donations to their church or the DFW chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation in lieu of flowers, as those were Debra's loves
