Gerald Joseph Deroche

Gerald Joseph "Paw" Deroche, 73, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, in Houston, Texas. He was born on July 31, 1950 in Thibodaux, Louisiana and was a resident of Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Gerald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Gerald had a passion for cooking and crafting. He was known for his culinary skills and specialized in creating beautiful bluebird houses that adorned backyards across multiple states. His expertise in gardening and craftsmanship extended to all aspects of his life, earning him the reputation of being a true Mr. Fix-it. Above all, Gerald cherished his family and dedicated his time to teaching them the importance of caring for one another. In his professional life, Gerald served as a Chemical Chief Operator at Mosaic and worked as a Chef at Pueblo Country Club. He also held an associate degree in culinary arts from Pueblo Community College. Gerald found joy in traveling, cooking, crafting, gardening, and most of all, spending quality time with his family. He was a devoted member of Point North Church in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Deroche; daughter, Ginger Porter, and Lyndon; son, Gerald Michael Deroche; like a son, Robbie Poche, Jr.; grandchildren, Mark Peters, Jared Peters, Jesse Peters, Mia Peters, Devin Porter, Madison Deroche, Gerald Jacob Deroche, and Caleb Deroche; sister, Carolyn Piediscalzo; brother, Gary (Karen) Deroche and sister-in-law, Roxanne Deroche; along with many nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Peters; father, Joseph Pierre Deroche; mother, Irene Guillot Deroche; brother, Peter Michael Deroche; and brother-in-law, Johnny Piediscalzo. Friends and family are invited to contribute to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in memory of Gerald J. Deroche.
