Helge Ringdal Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Helge Ringdal passed away Wednesday March 18, 2015 in Houston, TX at the age of 75. Helge was born in Bergen, Norway on June 20, 1939 to Reidmar and Aase Askevold Ringdal. Helge is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved partner of 22 years (wife for 10) Carolyn Arnold Ringdal; his sister Aase Stuedal; his daughter Gry Alexandra Ringdal; his son Dag Ringdal & wife Lene; his grandchildren Nora and Lars Ringdal and many, many friends. Helge was a self-made man, and a pioneer in the oil and gas business. He founded Houston Offshore International in 1975, founded Southwestern Offshore Corporation in 1992 and Rocksource Energy Corporation in 1996. He was one of the founders of Amergy AS in 2004. Helge has been active as an investment broker and investor since 1969. He served as a Consultant for Gulf Oil Corporation and numerous other American companies in connection with their applications for licenses in the North Sea in an early phase of the exploration of oil and gas in the North Sea. He has been a board member of numerous companies within the oil and gas services and exploration. Helge was adventurous both in business and in private. He always lived life to the fullest. He was passionate about outdoor adventures including skydiving, mountaineering, hiking, and skiing. He was very enthusiastic about reading and education. He gained a love for poetry at an early age. Other passions include food and wine and traveling the world with his wife. Helge was a gifted speaker, always at the center of attention. He was respected by everyone for his wisdom, charm and his keen sense of humor. A truly genuine person. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
