James A. Bliss Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James A. "Jim" Bliss of Houston passed away on February 16, 2016 at his home. He is survived by his wife Irene, grandchildren Landon Bliss, Lindsay Ross, and Allison DuPlantier, and great-grandchildren Gracie Bliss, Jessa Ross, Craig Ross, and Banks Ross, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Virginia "Ginny" Bliss, his son Craig Bliss, his son James A. "Jay" Bliss, Jr., and his sister Marilyn Scott. Jim was born on October 4, 1924 in Georgia, Vermont. He met Ginny while attending grade school in St. Albans, Vermont. He graduated from Bellows Free Academy in 1942. He attended the University of Vermont. Jim and Ginny married in 1947, moving to Massachusetts shortly after and had their sons Craig in 1949 and Jay in 1951. They then moved to Austin in 1959 and finally to Houston in 1963, making Houston their home. Jim made a living as an architectural salesman but his passion was for airplanes. He enjoyed making model airplanes, photography, and sharing his stories with others. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His final resting place will be in St. Albans, Vermont, a place that he dearly loved.
