Jimmie D. Burris

Better known as “Jim”, he was born in Kingsville, Texas and was a proud native Texan. Jim met his wife, Suzanne, while attending Texas A&I University. They shared more than 59 wonderful years of marriage and built a loving family together. They were blessed with two daughters and two grandchildren and one great grandson, all of whom they loved dearly. Jim loved animals; he raised and rescued many dogs throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed training dogs in obedience and tracking and had a passion for Nascar racing and woodworking. His quick wit and sense of humor were appreciated by all who knew and loved him. Above all else, Jim was most proud of his family. One of his greatest joys was recently becoming a great grandfather and watching his family continue to grow. His career in the U. S. Army and later as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took him throughout the United States and Germany. He loved his country and was a devoted supporter of U. S. veterans. He shared many fascinating stories from his career and retired from the FBI’s San Antonio, Tx. field office after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Harvey Burris of Kingsville, Texas; his wife Suzanne Burris of Seguin, Texas; daughter Pam Burris of Kingsbury, Texas; sister Jeanene Smith of Seguin, Texas; and niece Kellye Fergeson of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his daughter Kim Vasquez (Mike) of Prosper, Texas, granddaughter Haley Vasquez of Las Vegas, Nevada, grandson Matt Vasquez (Pamela) of McKinney Texas, great grandson Noah Vasquez of McKinney, Texas, and nephew Kirk Smith of Blanco, Texas. Jim was a kind, generous, and selfless man who spent his life helping others whenever he could. He leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and country.
