Marianne Schanz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Marianne D. Schanz passed away in peace and grace at the age of 81 on November 5, 2015 surrounded by family at home in Richardson, Texas. She was born on October 28, 1934 in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents Frank and Victoria Kacmarcik. Along with her brother Frank and sisters Virginia, Angie and Betty, Marianne was raised in the Roman Catholic Church which provided a profound influence throughout Marianne's life. Marianne lived in North St. Paul, Minnesota through childhood and married Joseph C. Schanz on May 23, 1952 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in North St. Paul, MN. They had four children, Mary Jo, Paul, Aimee and Thomas. The family relocated from North St. Paul, Minnesota to Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1973 after Joe was transferred by 3M, his long-time employer. Throughout her life, Marianne led her family in faith and adventure. Joe and Marianne built a cabin themselves at Bad Medicine Lake in Northern Minnesota where the family spent incredible days swimming, boating, hiking and simply being together. God and family always came first. Her lifelong passion was her love for animals of all kinds and rarely did a stray make it past her house before it became a member of the family. Marianne is survived by her sister, Sr. Virgana Kacmarcik O.S.F. at Assisi Heights in Rochester, Minnesota; children Mary Jo Johnson of Dallas, Texas, Paul Schanz and wife Vicki of Wapanucka, Oklahoma and Aimee Stobbe and husband Harold Stobbe of Corn, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kim, Heather, Tony, Andrea, Nick, Sadie, Joey, Grace and Josie in addition to her great-grandchildren, Tinnley, Kanyon, Boston, Odin, Lilly and Corbin. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Charles Schanz of Weatherford, OK, son Thomas Joseph Schanz of MacAlester, OK and grandson Gabor Csaki of Romania, parents Frank and Victoria Kacmarcik, siblings Brother Frank Kacmarcik, O.S.B., Betty Nachtsheim and Virginia Freeman, all of Minnesota, A graveside service will be held at a later date in Weatherford, OK.
