Mary Howie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Our sweet friend, Mary (Mhairi) Elizabeth Howie passed away on Monday March 9, 2015. Born in Scotland, Mary came to America for new beginnings. Living a non-committal lifestyle, Mary was full of adventure, doing whatever she pleased. She traveled the world, and loved to experience new things. Mary shared many stories of her adventures, especially the times she sipped wine by the Eiffel Tower and watched the butterfies nearby. If you had the privilege of meeting Mary you know she had a free loving spirit. Despite her wanderlust lifestyle one thing that remained constant was her love and genuine care for others. As a Nurse for over 40 years, Mary made every patient a friend and every colleague family. Mary loved cats, having several throughout the years. She loved cats so much that she placed framed pictures of her cats all around her home. She was an avid supporter of PBS/Channel 8 and guide dogs for people who are blind or visually impaired. Mary was such a positive person that even with a new diagnosis that would devastate anyone, she was determined to beat the odds. She will be so greatly missed. Although she loved her life in America, she was determined to return home to the beautiful country of Scotland. Later this year, her ashes will be scattered off the coast of Scotland as she wished. She will forever be home. Services will be held Sunday March 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m at the Distinctive Life Chapel 5455 Dashwood Bellaire, TX 77401.
