sophia dineff Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Sophia G. Dineff, 86, of Houston, Texas, formerly of West Deer Twp., passed away in her sleep September 28, 2014. Born June 9, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN, Sophia lived in West Deer most of her life. She was co-owner of Sisters Corners, known for its pizza, donuts and ice cream for 61 years until her husband's death. Sophia was a 1946 graduate of West Deer High School and member of East Union Presbyterian Church. Sophia had been active in the community: she had been President of the Women's Club, worked as a teacher's aide, been a girl scout leader, helped her husband with his newspaper motor route delivery, as well as the co-proprietor of the pizza and donut shop. She moved to Houston in 2011 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. In Houston she became a member of Lakewood Church and enjoyed going to church there, playing games on her IPad, visiting with her sister, spending time with her dog Buddy, playing bingo, and going to sporting events and out to dinner. Survivors include her daughters Joy (Robert) Morian of West Deer, Carol Hewitt of Greensburg, and Suzanne (Mark) Mailes-Dineff of Houston, TX, and her son Thomas P (Karen) Dineff of West Deer, grandchildren Heather, Monica & Michael, 3 great-grandchildren & her sister Lamona Harbaugh of Spring, TX. Preceded in death by her parents Nicholas & Anastasia (Gika) Gatseff, grandson Matthew Hewitt, & son-in-law Gary Hewitt. A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2015 in Pennsylvania and announced at a later date for friends and family.
