Tommy Gene Zimmerman

Tommy Gene Zimmerman, a beloved member of the community, passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 66. Born in Kaufman, TX on December 14, 1956, Tommy touched the lives of many throughout his journey. His presence will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Growing up in Seagoville, TX, Tommy was always known for his mischievous sense of humor. A true entertainer, he would often delight the crowd at football games, hilariously mimicking a monkey when the iconic Ray Stevens song, "Harry the Hairy Ape," played. Tommy had a natural ability to make people laugh and his infectious spirit brought joy to those around him. Tommy was a kind-hearted individual with an easy-going nature and a welcoming demeanor. Friends and family fondly remember him for his friendly disposition and his willingness to go above and beyond for his loved ones, even at the risk of getting into trouble. Throughout his life, he carried nicknames such as Shorty, Tooter, and Turtle, endearing him to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. After graduating from high school in 1975, Tommy embarked on a successful career as a carpenter in the construction industry. His craftsmanship and precision in carpentry and finish work were highly regarded. He took pride in his work and was known to exclaim, "I cut that board three times and it's still too short!" His dedication and skill earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Outside of work, Tommy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. He cherished family gatherings, relishing the opportunity to engage in board games, and undoubtedly cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys while sipping on a glass of sweet tea. Tommy had a passion for rock music, often rocking out to the tunes of ZZ Top and AC/DC, creating lasting memories with his daughter Kendra. Tommy's spiritual journey was rooted in The Church of Christ, attending services in Seagoville, Crandall, and Lancaster throughout his life. His faith provided him with solace and strength during challenging times. Tommy leaves behind a legacy filled with love and cherished memories. He is survived by his adoring family, including his mother Callie Marie Zimmerman, his daughter Kendra Marie Zimmerman, his granddaughter Ella Lucille Rose St. Clair, and his beloved siblings, Kathy West, Phil Zimmerman, and Rick Zimmerman. He will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and his adopted family, the entire Millbrook Staff. As we bid farewell to Tommy Gene Zimmerman, we take solace knowing that his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
