Richard "Mike" Cummings, Sr., beloved husband of Jean Cummings and father to Lisa, Ricky and Kenny, went to his eternal rest on Monday, August 26, 2013 after a long illness. Mike was born April 9, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland to Richard H. and Virginia Skeen Cummings. After graduating from high school and serving in Vietnam for the United States Army, Mike worked as a machinist in the automotive industry. He is survived by his wife, Jean Cummings of Plano, Texas; two sons, Ricky Cummings, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland and Kenny Cherry and his wife, Sarah of Plano, Texas; one daughter, Lisa Payne and her husband, Jason of Baltimore, Maryland; mother, Sr. Virginia Cummings, OSF of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; one brother, David Cummings and his wife, Debbie of Baltimore, Maryland; one grandson, Lance Cpl Benton Cummings and his wife, Sarah of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Lizzie Cummings of Baltimore, Maryland; one great-grandson, Jaxson Cummings of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and one very special sister-in-law, June Williamson of Milford, New Hampshire. Mike is preceded in death by his father. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 West Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023. A Rosary Service will be said 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Distinctive Life Funeral Home Chapel with visitation beginning at 5 o'clock p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Mike is now resting in peace and will be missed by all.
