Lloyd Hilman Smith passed away on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 in Kingwood, Texas. He was born in Houston, Texas on March 8, 1963 to Lloyd Homer and Judy Ruth Smith, both of whom precede him in death. He is also preceded in death by his older brother, Douglas Smith and brother-in-law, Chris Hair.
As a young adult, Lloyd lived in Dallas for a few years before returning back to his hometown. After graduating from Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 54 Apprenticeship School in 2004, he earned his journeyman card and begun work as an HVAC technician, a position he held till his passing. Throughout his career Lloyd had the opportunity to work on several notable Houston area construction projects including NRG Stadium, Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center and buildings within the Medical Center.
Lloyd had a wonderful sense of humor, and never encountered a situation that he couldn’t make a joke out of. He always provided comedic relief—whether asked for or not—and never took himself too seriously. He was also an avid sports fan. Sundays were dubbed his “sports day”, where he watched every game he possibly could. During the week, you could find SportsCenter playing on his TV more often than not, and many times he spent his lunch breaks at work attending Astros games. He played basketball and football in high school, and also tried his hand at track. While he did have a great appreciation for athletics, his greatest loves in life were his three daughters, Haley, Savanna, and Tori. He was a very caring and loving father for them, and he made sure to try and continue to do so as they grew up. From staying up late doing puzzles together to going and cutting down a Christmas tree every year, he and the girls had many long-standing traditions that they will always cherish. He took great pride in all of their accomplishments, and the girls were forever in his heart as he is in theirs.
In addition to his children, Lloyd is survived by his sister Tracey Smith, brother Edward Paul Smith and wife Stephanie, two nieces, and many other family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at Distinctive Life Funeral Home, 5455 Dashwood Street Ste. 100, Bellaire, Texas 77401 on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 from 11-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to donate to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as Lloyd worked there for many years.

Growing up next door to the Smiths meant lots of pals to play with. We all loved Bubba and I sure have fond memories of playing in the woods, playing basketball, making forts, baseball and more with Bubba and all the Smith kids. Thinking of you all at this time. Bubba sure was a sweet kid!
